MaxJute thick
Case Study
Soil Stabilisation and mulch matting

Eight years ago Treemax introduced 100% biodegradable erosion and weed control geotextiles for environmentally sensitive areas.

Prior to this, geotextiles in use contained plastic meshes (chemical additives), that would further contribute to pollution levels.

Treemax introduces to you natural soil erosion and weed control material that will completely biodegrade (over an 18 month period) leaving nothing but beneficial nutrients for plants & a favourable environment for soil microbes.

MaxJute Thick is the strongest Jute geotextile on the market today, and is Australian owned and manufactured locally.

In this project contractors pinned MaxJute Thick at a rate of three pins per square metre and overlapped sections at least 150mm to ensure complete surface cover and protection.
MaxJute Thick's high mass and density rating will help it handle the flow rates expected, as well as providing weed control to ensure that the vegetation planted for long term stabilisation gets the competitive advantage that it needs for establishment.
The contractors chose to use MaxJute Thick for stabilisation and revegetation of this swail drainage channel.
MaxJute Thick is manufactured with a nominal mass 750 grams per square metre (density of 120 kg/m 3 ).
This means that MaxJute Thick with a life expectancy of 18 months will help to establish a complete vegetative cover in this drainage channel. Once MaxJute Thick has completely biodegraded, the indigenous vegetation planted by the contractors will naturally, take over the long-term stabilisation of the channel.

Each section of MaxJute Thick is secured in a trench at the top of the bank to help it stay put in high winds or water flow events. MaxJute Thick can also be secured in extreme locations using short star pickets & fencing wire to strap the matting firmly against the ground.
